Order of the Red Maidens
An Esoteric order of warrior nuns, generally considered to be active during the 10th-12th Centuries, though there is some evidence for their existence much earlier and up until the 18th Century, or even World War I.
Folklore depicts them as women who protected their homes and villages from supernatural threats while men were off on Crusades. They have an association with Nuns of St. Agatha and it is under the guise of these nuns that thye may have operated into modern times.
According to “Accounts of the Secret Pharaohs Revealed”, a theosophical history published in France in 1902, the Red Maidens originated as a cult of the Egyptian Goddess Bast, which fled to France when the city of Bubastis became a Christian bishopric in 325 AD.
